Psalms
Are you familiar with the theory that the Psalms correspond to years?
For example the year 1901 corresponds to Psalm 1.
This theory was put forth by two different authors, the best developed was by Dr. J.R. Church, in his book "The hidden Prophecies of the Psalms."
A preview for the book lists these items, mostly related to Israel.
Psalm 17 alludes to the liberation of Jerusalem in 1917.
Psalms 39-45 correspond to the years of the Holocaust - 1939-1945.
Psalm 48 alludes to the birth of Israel in 1948.
Psalm 91 became the favorite psalm of the soldiers in the 1991 war against Iraq, because of its uncanny descriptions of that war.
I think this is an amazing discovery, and since learning about it I wondered if there would be any way to tie Revelations in with it.
Actually I had given up, when one day I was reading Psalms when it struck me. In the original Hebrew the book of Psalms would have been five scrolls (there are five books in the Psalms), and this corresponds in language with the seals of Revelation, which are sealing a scroll.
Revelations
5:1 I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.
5:2 I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?"
The first seal is one of the four horseman, the rider on a white horse.
6:1 I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, "Come and see!"
6:2 And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came forth conquering, and to conquer.
Some have likened this rider to be the anti Christ, first of all there is not strictly speaking an anti Christ in revelations there is the false prophet and the one world government. Anyway, standard Bible study teaches us to interpret Biblical symbolism with the Bible. There is no white horse ever mentioned in relationship with Satan or his minions, rather plainly it is shown to be Jesus himself.
19:11 I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war.
19:12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no one knows but he himself.
19:13 He is clothed in a garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called "The Word of God."
19:14 The armies which are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in white, pure, fine linen.
19:15 Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with a rod of iron. He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.
19:16 He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."
We can easily discern that Jesus won't come back until the end of the age, therefore this can't be referring to Jesus himself, but this very passage gives us a clue to what happens. Jesus is here and elsewhere identified as being the Word of God. It is the Word of God that goes conquering and to conquer. This corresponds to the years of the second to last church of Revelations from 1750-1910. This is not a perfect match, I know, but the thing that amazes me about these prophecies is that each one is the absolute worst or best in this case read on. This talks about the time when America and Africa were evangelized. This is the greatest evangelization period in history. This is the Protestant Reformation.
3:7 "To the angel of the assembly in Philadelphia write: "He who is holy, he who is true, he who has the key of David, he who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says these things:
3:8 "I know your works (behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut), that you have a little power, and kept my word, and didn't deny my name.
3:9 Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but lie. Behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
3:10 Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
3:11 I am coming quickly! Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.
3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will go out from there no more. I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.
3:13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.
The next book of Psalms starts at Psalm 42-72 i.e. 1942-1972.
6:3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come!"
6:4 Another came forth, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.
I have to admit the timing is not perfect, but World War two is the worst war of all time.
The Next book of Psalms start at Psalm 73-89 i.e. 1973-1989.
6:5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come and see!" And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
6:6 I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, "A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don't damage the oil and the wine!"
The famine in Ethiopia in 1984 was the one of the worst famines of all time (except for two caused by Russia and China to channel funds to improve the country), and a few years earlier there was the worst worldwide inflation of all time, so bad that insurance adjustors had to offer different types of policies to keep up with inflation, which had been relatively steady in the past 500 years.
The next seal is the last of the four horsemen, Psalm 90 -106, 1990-2006.
6:7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, "Come and see!"
6:8 And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it, his name was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.
There are two parts to this, the first part I believe is AIDS, and the second which is a terrible tragedy following the first. This is any minute now. AIDS has been pronounced by the United Nations as the worst plague of all time. Note, although God is judging the nations by these plagues, it should be noted that we have no authority to judge people except as required for our own personal lives so we may not be led to sin. Therefore it is not a Christian principal that we shouldn't help those infected with AIDS because of an understanding that it is a judgment from God, just like when German and Japan tried to take over the world it was right to resist them.
Destruction follows, and between the two a fourth of the Earth will be killed. This either could happen at any time, or it could happen when AIDS is finally cured (as destruction follows behind it).
6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
6:10 They cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"
6:11 A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.
This is the future, so it is hard to say, but it seems that next year there will be martyrs. Under Moslems law anyone who converts from Islam will be beheaded, if you watch closely not as much on TV, but the Internet, you will see that the practice is starting already.
